Mid Job Description The CAD designer will work in collaboration with the engineering development teams primarily in-shop at our Pocasset facility and will also be available to support our other locations with the possibility of a remote hybrid schedule. The candidate will have engineering and documentation duties to support design development, testing solutions, solve technical CM problems, assist manufacturing, sales, and QA. The candidate will:
Provide extensive CAD design support Perform moderate to complex technical engineering tasks such as design updates, build, testing and inspections supporting senior engineers Create, monitor and update engineering change requests, authorizations, change notices, and communication activities. Schedule and conduct regular meetings for design reviews with the engineering team and stakeholders Track and communicate on a regular basis, tasks and progress. Serve as a lead worker for general mid-level design related activities for technical data package follow ups Essential Job Responsibilities Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers. Minimum Qualifications 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field. #LI-MH1 MV EP TE Preferred Requirements Engineering design and drafting skills General mid-level computational skills for performing CFD and FEA analysis Manufacturing engineering and processes Knowledge and exposure to designing for manufacturability (DFMA) Quality control systems exposure Additive manufacturing design and production Knowledge in engineering documentation control systems MIL-STD-100/ASME 14.X, EIA-649 Guidelines for engineering documentation control and configuration/change control standards CAD design tools and databases Dassault Solidworks and PDM tools, Siemens PLM tools Physical Requirements Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances during site surveys. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift. Must be able to perform site surveys and carry a lap top computer. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
